Practical advice for boats and motorhomes
Weekend sailors often find the engine battery fine and the domestic bank flat. Take the main leads from opposite corners of the bank so every battery shares the load. Mixing old and new batteries in one bank drags the new ones down.
The AGM technology explained
Open up an AGM battery in your imagination and you would find the acid soaked into thin glass-fibre sheets squeezed against each plate. Because nothing can spill, AGM batteries can live inside a cabin, a boot or under a seat. Recharge an AGM battery promptly after deep use.
Before you order: a quick checklist
- ✓ As a AGM battery it needs matching charge settings in the alternator, charger or solar regulator.
- ✓ Will it fit? The Fulbat FPC12-200 measures 522 × 240 × 224 mm, so compare length first, then width, then height with the lid or bonnet closed.
- ✓ Do not go far below your old battery's capacity; this one has 214.4Ah.
