Getting the best from the Long WPS12-12T

A small business loses its card machine if the UPS battery fails. Run a self-test after the fresh blocks have charged. Batteries that look perfect from outside can still fail under load.

How AGM batteries work and how to look after them

Tightly packed plates and mats give glass-mat batteries a sturdy inner structure. Cars with automatic engine stop love AGM, since it copes with constant partial discharge. A battery tester gives a clearer picture of AGM health than a voltmeter.

Before you order: a quick checklist

• ✓ Sticking with AGM avoids surprises, unless your vehicle maker approves a change.
• ✓ Measure the space available: the case takes up 151 × 98 × 104 mm, and a few millimetres too many can stop the hold-down from closing.
• ✓ Stored energy reserve: 12Ah. Going much lower than your current battery can leave you short on cold mornings or long stops.
