Using it day to day: practical tips
Estate gardeners use their tractors daily in summer. Check the earth connection to the frame, a common culprit on garden machines. Most small garden batteries last a few seasons.
What AGM means for you
AGM stands for absorbent glass mat, a fancy name for a very tidy way of storing acid. Premium cars with lots of electronics usually come with AGM from new. Recharge an AGM battery promptly after deep use.
Quick compatibility checklist
- ✓ Chemistry: AGM. Some vehicles and chargers are programmed for a specific type, so check before swapping.
- ✓ Dimensions to compare: 150 × 87 × 145 mm. Do not forget the base ledge, which the hold-down clamp grips on many vehicles.
- ✓ Note which corner the plus post occupies on your old unit. Here it is positive on the left-hand side, and crossed cables rarely reach.
Your questions answered
Do size and polarity both match my current battery?
A physical match means the same case (150 × 87 × 145 mm) and the same terminal side (positive on the left-hand side).
Does a battery lose charge on the shelf?
Store it fully charged, away from heat and frost, and give it a refresh charge before installation.
Dimensions and weight of this model?
Length, width and height are 150 × 87 × 145 mm, and the weight is 4.53 kg. Compare with the space available, including clearance above the posts.
What are the voltage and capacity of this model?
Yes, if they are identical. Two 12V units of 12.6Ah in series give double the voltage; in parallel they give double the capacity at 12V.
