In short: What you are looking at: the Varta B31, a 45Ah 12V 330A battery for cars and vans. Measure twice, order once: dimensions decide most swaps.
Using it day to day: practical tips
Drivers who work nights often start their cars in the coldest hours. Note the radio code before disconnecting anything. Headlights that dim when the engine idles often point to a battery that has lost capacity.

About the technology: lead-acid
Maintenance-free flooded batteries have sealed caps. Flooded batteries offer strong starting current at a fair price. Check the electrolyte level a few times a year if the battery has removable caps.

Questions buyers ask about the Varta B31
What do 45Ah and 330A mean for this battery?
The cranking figure is 330A, measured to the EN standard, and the capacity is 45Ah. If your engine is large or you live somewhere cold, choose the higher end of what your car allows.
Can I connect several of these in series or parallel?
Yes, if they are identical. Two 12V units of 45Ah in series give double the voltage; in parallel they give double the capacity at 12V.
Is the plus post on the correct side for my car?
This model is positive on the right-hand side. If your old battery is the mirror image, choose another reference.
Is lead-acid the same as the battery I have now?
Most smart chargers offer a lead-acid mode. Select it before charging to protect the battery.
Is the Varta B31 right for you?
Drivers who search for Varta B31 usually have the old battery right in front of them, code and all. Built as a lead-acid battery, it suits the charging system of cars that came with the same technology. Typing a part number takes less time than describing a battery over the phone.
45Ah suits engines with modest electrical demands.
