Practical advice for UPS and standby systems
A small business loses its card machine if the UPS battery fails. Let the equipment charge new batteries fully before relying on them. Choosing on size alone and ignoring terminal width leads to connectors that will not fit.
AGM: how it works
AGM stands for absorbent glass mat, a fancy name for a very tidy way of storing acid. Glass-mat batteries shrug off vibration, which is why bikes and boats use them so often. Leaving a glass-mat battery flat for weeks invites sulphation.
