Using it day to day: practical tips

Mobility shops often see chairs whose batteries were left flat for weeks. Plug in at the end of each day out, whatever the gauge says. Replacing only one battery of a pair is a common mistake, and the newer one soon suffers too.

AGM: how it works

Nothing sloshes around in a glass-mat battery, because every drop of acid is held in the separators. Wheelchairs and scooters often use AGM for clean, sealed power. A full charge now and then helps an AGM battery that mostly works part-charged.

Before you order: a quick checklist

• ✓ Stored energy reserve: 40Ah. Going much lower than your current battery can leave you short on cold mornings or long stops.
• ✓ Set your charger to AGM before the first charge.
• ✓ Outside dimensions are 197.7 × 166 × 171 mm. Run a tape measure over your tray or compartment, including the height under the bonnet or lid.
